This policy explains what personal information BatteryCare collects, why we collect it, and how it is handled — including data processed through the WhatsApp Business Platform, operated by Meta Platforms, Inc. ("Meta"). It applies to our website, our WhatsApp service channel, and our engineer and customer onboarding processes.
1Introduction
BatteryCare ("we", "us", "our") provides on-demand battery repair and replacement services, connecting customers with independent field engineers via WhatsApp and our website. Protecting the privacy of everyone who uses our service — customers and engineers alike — is a core part of how we operate.
By using our WhatsApp service channel, our website, or registering as a BatteryCare engineer, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
2Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
From customers
- Name and phone number (via WhatsApp)
- Service location or address you share with us
- Details of the service you request (battery type, issue description)
- Payment confirmation details relevant to completing an order
- Messages you send us through WhatsApp, including message content and timestamps
From engineers
- Name, phone number, and UPI ID for payouts
- Skills, service area, and experience details provided at registration
- Job acceptance, rejection, and completion activity
- Earnings and payment history
Automatically collected
- Basic technical metadata associated with WhatsApp message delivery (delivery and read receipts)
- Standard web server logs if you visit our website (IP address, browser type, pages visited)
3WhatsApp & Meta Platform data
Our service channel runs on the WhatsApp Business Platform, a product operated by Meta Platforms, Inc. When you message BatteryCare on WhatsApp:
- Your messages are transmitted and processed through Meta's infrastructure in order to be delivered to us, in accordance with Meta's Business Data Processing Terms and the WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy.
- Meta may process metadata (such as phone number, delivery status, and timestamps) to operate the messaging service, secure the platform, and prevent abuse, as described in the WhatsApp Privacy Policy.
- We do not control, and are not responsible for, Meta's own handling of your data as the underlying platform provider. We encourage you to review Meta's policies linked above.
- We only use WhatsApp message content to operate the BatteryCare service — job requests, status updates, and support — and never to sell your data to third parties.
4How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Match customers with available, appropriately skilled engineers
- Send job alerts, status updates, invoices, and payment confirmations via WhatsApp
- Process engineer payouts to the UPI ID provided
- Respond to support requests and resolve disputes
- Maintain the security and reliability of our service
- Comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations
5Sharing your information
We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Between customers and engineers — so a job can actually be completed (e.g., your location shared with the assigned engineer, and the engineer's name and rating shared with you)
- With Meta — as a necessary part of operating our WhatsApp service channel, as described in Section 3
- With payment processors — to complete UPI transactions
- With authorities — only where required by applicable law, regulation, or valid legal process
We do not sell personal information to advertisers or data brokers.
6Data retention
We retain job, customer, and engineer records for as long as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and meet our legal and accounting obligations, after which the data is deleted or anonymized. WhatsApp message content is retained by us only for as long as operationally necessary to support your request.
7Data security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures — including access controls and API key authentication on our systems — to protect the information we hold against unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage, however, can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
8Your rights & choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data, subject to legal or operational retention needs
- Withdraw consent to future WhatsApp communications at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 12.
9Opting out of WhatsApp messages
You can stop receiving WhatsApp messages from BatteryCare at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by blocking our business number directly within WhatsApp. Engineers can go offline from job alerts at any time by replying OFFLINE.
10Children's privacy
Our service is intended for use by individuals aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. The "Effective" date at the top of this page indicates when the current version took effect. Material changes will be communicated through our website or WhatsApp channel where appropriate.
